Hard Rock Hotel, Batu Ferringhi, Penang

Hard Rock Hotel Penang was formerly known as Casuarina Beach Hotel. This is a beautiful hotel situated along Batu Ferringhi beach. The beach is clean and safe to swim in the sea. It is a short walk to the night market that runs 7 night a week. If it is a little too far for you to walk. The hotel does provide free shuttles service to and from the night market. The night market was really fun when we were last there with lots of hawkers food along the road.
The hotel is a short distance from Tropical Spice Garden, Eden Parade Shopping Centre, and Penang Cultural Center. Local attractions also include Toy Museum Heritage Garden, Penang Butterfly Farm and Teluk Bahang Dam.

Kids would love the facilities, especially the pool. This pool has water park together with it. It is truly a paradise. Kids could easily spend the whole day at the pool while adult sit down and relax.

Amazing!!!!! These are the Lagoon room has direct access to the pool. You can actually jump straight into the pool from your room deck. However, family with young children under 12 will not allocate with the Lagoon Room due to safety reason. However, it can be a bit noisy at night as they normally have a live band performing in the pool area.

Overall the experience of being in Hard Rock Hotel Penang does make us all feel like a star.

Penang Butterfly Farm

The Penang Butterfly Farm the first tropical butterfly farm ever set up in the tropical world and is located in Teluk Bahang, which is at the end of the tourist hotel strip at Batu Ferringhi and is about 17km from George Town. The Farm was established in 1986 by Mr. David Goh. Since then the farm has slowly been expanded. In Penang, the farm has now become a house hold name and a must to see for visitors. it has become one of the popular stops on Penang's round island tour. . To go there, you could either take a bus, a taxi or drive yourself. Parking is FREE so you can spend as much time as you like.

According to lots of reports. The Penang Butterfly Farm is more than just a tourist attraction. It is a research centre to develop breeding method. It has an average flying population of 4000 Malaysian butterflies of 120 different species, including the rare Indian Leafl (Kallima paralekta) and the endangered Yellow Bird wing (Troides helena). Probably the most famous of Malaysian butterflies is the Rajah Brooke's Bird wing of the Papilionidae family.

In the farm, there is a museum for educational experience where specimens of the various life cycle of the butterfly are available for your viewing. You can also find various type of butterflies from around the world are shown in there.

There is a souvenirs shop on your way out,  but not much on refreshment, so do feel free to bring   your own bottle of water as it can be humid. Overall, the farm would be a nice day out for all ages, ex specially kids. More >>
